هدف پژوهش حاضر تعیین رابطۀ هوش هیجانی و کمال‌گرایی مربیان با کیفیت رابطۀ مربی-ورزشکار در رزمی‌کاران نخبه بود. پژوهش حاضر توصیفی-همبستگی و جامعۀ آماری آن تمامی رزمی‌کاران (تکواندو، کاراته، جودو، ووشو و کشتی) حاضر در مسابقات لیگ برتر در سال 1396 بودند. در این پژوهش مجموعاً 300 نفر (60 مربی و 240 ورزشکار) شرکت و پرسشنامه¬های هوش هیجانی، کمال‌گرایی و کیفیت رابطۀ مربی- ورزشکار را تکمیل نمودند. داده‌ها از طریق آزمون‌های آماری همبستگی پیرسون و رگرسیون چندگانه به روش هم‌زمان تحلیل شد. نتایج نشان داد که به‌طور معناداری بین هوش هیجانی و کمال‌گرایی خودمحور، با کیفیت رابطۀ مربی-ورزشکار همبستگی وجود دارد (01/0>p)، به‌علاوه، تحلیل داده‌ها نشان داد که هوش هیجانی و کمال‌گرایی 58 درصد از تغییرات کیفیت رابطۀ مربی-ورزشکار را تبیین می‌کنند؛ درحالی‌که این تبیین در مورد ابعاد دیگرمحور و جامعه محور کمال گرایی معکوس بود (001/0>p). بر اساس یافته‌های حاضر به نظر می‌رسد، ویژگی‌های هوش هیجانی و کمال‌گرایی مربیان نقش مؤثری در کیفیت رابطۀ مربی-ورزشکار ایفاء می‌کنند و سطوح کیفیت این رابطه در رزمی‌کاران نخبه متناسب با این ویژگی‌هاست.
